Compassionate In-Home Aide Care — African Caregiver Assisting Senior

Home Health Aide & Homemaker Support

When illness makes everyday tasks difficult, our certified Home Health Aides step in with gentle, dependable support. They assist patients with bathing, grooming, oral care, dressing, skin care, repositioning, and light mobility support — always with patience, respect, and careful attention to the patient's comfort and dignity.

Our aides also provide homemaker services that help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment. This includes light housekeeping, laundry, linen changes, and meal preparation tailored to the patient's dietary needs and preferences.

Beyond the practical help, our Home Health Aides offer something equally important: a familiar, caring presence. For many patients, the aide becomes a trusted companion — someone who knows their routines, respects their preferences, and brings warmth and normalcy into each visit. For family caregivers, the aide's support provides much-needed relief and the confidence that their loved one is in good hands.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often does a Home Health Aide visit?

Visit frequency is based on the patient's care plan and level of need. Most patients receive aide visits several times per week, and each visit typically lasts one to three hours. If the patient's needs increase, the care team can adjust the schedule accordingly.

What exactly does a Home Health Aide do during a visit?

A typical visit may include helping the patient with bathing or a bed bath, oral hygiene, hair care, shaving, dressing, applying lotion to prevent skin breakdown, repositioning in bed, light transfers, and assisting with meals. Homemaker tasks can include changing bed linens, tidying the patient's immediate living area, preparing light meals, and doing laundry related to the patient's care.

Is a Home Health Aide the same as a private caregiver or sitter?

No. Our Home Health Aides are certified professionals who work under the supervision of a registered nurse as part of the hospice interdisciplinary team. Their duties are defined by the patient's plan of care, and they receive ongoing hospice-specific training. While they provide compassionate companionship, their primary role is hands-on personal care directed by the clinical team.

Can we request the same aide for every visit?

We understand the importance of consistency and do our best to assign the same aide to a patient whenever possible. A familiar face helps build trust and comfort, particularly for patients living with dementia or cognitive decline. If scheduling requires a substitute, the replacement aide will be fully briefed on the patient's care plan and preferences.

What if my loved one is uncomfortable being bathed or cared for by a stranger?

This is completely normal, especially in the beginning. Our aides are trained to approach personal care with sensitivity, patience, and respect for the patient's modesty and boundaries. They introduce themselves, explain each step before performing it, and follow the patient's lead on preferences. Most patients become comfortable very quickly once a trusting relationship is established.
